My Love for Yoga Nidra
I remember the first time I enjoyed Yoga Nidra.
It started off as what looked like a pyjama party on my first yoga teacher training in 2007 with the Living Yoga Program (Austin, TX) —all of us lying down on the floor, cuddled up under blankets, at the end of a long day of studies… closing our eyes and listening to the meditation …
…and then I emerged from it, feeling like I had been transported to another world, while at the same time remaining quietly awake and aware throughout the blissful journey. “What was that?” was quickly followed by, “More, please!”
Remarkable.
Even more remarkable to me has been the opportunity in the years since, to continue studying and teaching this ancient style of meditation, sharing its profound benefits with people around the world.
I was so captivated by these benefits, that I went to India to complete a full 200-hour training specifically on Yoga Nidra.
Much gratitude and thanks to Living Yoga Program, Yogi Sivadas, Jennifer Reis, and Swami Yogaratna Saraswati for their insight and teachings. My teachings are a blend of the classical, ancient wisdom from India, as well as modern day adaptation, for practical everyday use.
Much appreciation, too, for what I have learnt through the teachings of Kamini Desai, Richard Miller (iRest), and Rod Stryker (ParaYoga).
I am also grateful for the thousands of people who explore Yoga Nidra with me every day, particularly the community on the Insight Timer meditation app.
