Hello! I’m Julie Murphy
Nature is my panacea, dogs are my therapy, meditation is my muti. Laughter is essential.
I appreciate meaningful travel with likeminded people, and I am equal parts teacher, student, writer, and accomplished concert pianist (that last one is not true, but I wish it were).
How did I get here … decades ago, yoga and meditation helped me reduce stress and brought balance to my life as a busy exec throughout a demanding technology career in Africa, Europe and the USA.
I began teaching these wellness techniques in 2007 and I have tremendous gratitude for the thousands around the world who have enjoyed my courses and meditations — thank you for all of your support!
Yoga Nidra is my ``calling``. I’ve become particularly known for my deep knowledge of Yoga Nidra meditation and my wish is to inspire others to explore this as a journey to optimal wellbeing, a path to positive transformation.
Please enjoy my courses and recordings on Insight Timer, Spotify, YouTube and all streaming platforms.
Or join me on a workshop or a retreat!
Mindfulness
Aware And Present Equanimity
Non-judgmental awareness of the present moment
Asana
Movement Through Yoga
Bringing ease to the poses is what makes it yoga
Meditation
Yoga is Meditation
Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind
Mindfulness. Movement. Meditation.
Three simple things that help create balance, clarity and calm.
Simple, yet not always easy.
Explore these concepts, commit to them regularly,
and you’ll experience their inevitable positive impact.
May you find the recipe that works for you, to live your
most meaningful and joyful life;
for your benefit and for
the benefit of others.

My Journey To Yoga
Namaste. I’m constantly inspired by the positive impact yoga has on people’s lives — “If it doesn’t change your life, it’s not Yoga”.
In my personal yoga practice, I enjoy the increased flexibility and awareness of body, mind and spirit, and my wish is to share this experience with as many people as possible. I am inspired by yoga and meditation as a path for everyone to rediscover their full potential.
The yoga experience to last me a lifetime, was undoubtedly the unexpected blessing of meeting His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, in India.
Gratitude
I am grateful for the continual insights and the abundance of yoga and meditation. I am grateful for my yoga mentors and fellow students.
A memory I cherish is the unexpected surprise of meeting His Holiness the Dalai Lama in India, a story of non-attachment and blessings.
In gratitude, please take a peek at these incredible organizations I support, and see the impact of the work they do.
Thank you.

Experience
I’ve been fortunate to study under many of the “big name” international yoga teachers, and at the same time, I remind myself of the statement, “the Guru resides within”.
I am grateful for my many mentors and I particularly appreciate what I’ve learnt of the ‘psychology of yoga’ through teachers like Betsey Downing and Yogi Sivadas. And of course, my fellow yoga students are often my best teachers.
Some 10,000+ hours have gone into my studies and practice, so far. I look forward to continued learning and insight via the vast subject of yoga.
